Film Project Genre Research- Friday the 13th (1980)
Friday the 13th- The movie starts off with shot of the night sky and the moon. The shot slowly pans down to the lake and camp cabin below with a sound bridge of campers singing. Has a long of the cabin and states "Camp Crystal Lake 1958" which sets the setting. Switches to a point of view shot and enters another cabin with campers sleeping, switches back to the cabin with the campers singing. Shows two camp counselors singing looking intimating towards each other and gives an over shoulder shot from both. No job titles are listed in opening credits as it doesn't open up to any in the first 2 minutes, it is not till after the entire first scene the credits roll in. The budget of the film was 700,000 dollars and had a box office of 59.8 million dollars with a profit of 59.1 million dollars. It was awarded the MTV Lifetime Achievement Award.
